OTT-604 Biomaterials & Surgical Implants (VIII)
8th Semester OTT
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Classify and compare the properties, processing, and clinical applications of metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites used in medical devices.
2. Explain the fundamental principles of biocompatibility, including surface-protein interactions, wound healing, and the mechanisms of biomaterial-associated infections.
3. Analyze the degradation mechanisms of implant materials and evaluate the design criteria for both degradable and non-degradable devices.
4. Apply knowledge of material science to select appropriate biomaterials for specific clinical applications in orthopedics, cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and dental surgery.

OTT-606 Operation Theatre Design & Reconstruction (VIII)
8th Semester OTT
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles, planning, design, and reconstruction of Operation Theatres (OTs) in modern healthcare facilities. Students will explore key concepts such as OT layout planning, zoning (protective, clean, sterile, and disposal areas), workflow optimization, ventilation systems (including HEPA filtration), lighting, equipment placement, and sterilization protocols. The course also covers reconstruction and upgrading of existing OT facilities, emphasizing infection prevention, patient safety, and compliance with healthcare regulations
